Keith Jardine’s latest losing effort in the Octagon wasn’t just his fourth loss in a row (and fifth loss out of six fights) — it also led to his dismissal from the company.
MMAFighting.com reported this afternoon that Jardine has been released, and Heavy.com has confirmed the story with sources close to the organization.
Jardine debuted in the UFC after participating in the second season of The Ultimate Fighter. His most notable UFC wins came over Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, who were former and future UFC light heavyweight champions. After defeating Griffin at UFC 66, Jardine was upset by then-unknown Houston Alexander and was knocked out in the first round.
Jardine finished out his UFC tenure by losing to Rampage Jackson, Thiago Silva, Ryan Bader and Matt Hamill. He becomes the highest-profile former Ultimate Fighter contestant to be cut from the UFC to date.
