There has been another change of plans for UFC 116. Fortunately, this one just has to do with bout order.
According to MMAjunkie.com, who spoke with a source close to Spike TV earlier today, the middleweight match up between Kendall Grove and Goran Reljic has been knocked out of its slot on the Spike TV preliminary broadcast. In its place, Seth Petruzelli, most famous for his knockout victory over Kimbo Slice on national television to ignite the derailment of Slice’s career in mixed martial arts, will take on Ricardo Romero on the live broadcast.
Petruzelli and Romero will precede the final preliminary bout, which will also be aired on Spike, a heavyweight match up between “Ultimate Fighter Season 10” runner-up Brendan Schaub and Brock Lesnar’s training partner Chris Tuchscherer.
The broadcast begins at 9 p.m. ET on July 3, one hour prior to the pay-per-view broadcast, which features the heavyweight championship bout between champion Brock Lesnar and interim champion Shane Carwin. The co-main event of the evening was originally set to be Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva, but Silva was forced to withdraw earlier this week. Instead, Chris Leben will take on Akiyama in the co-main event slot.
