World Extreme Cagefighting today made official the upcoming WEC 51 card, which features a bantamweight championship bout between Jose Aldo and Manny Gamburyan.
“WEC 51: Aldo vs. Gamburyan” takes place Sept. 30 at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. It will be the second venture into Broomfield for a Zuffa-held company this year; the “UFC on Versus 1” card was held there earlier this year.
Other official bouts include Miguel Torres taking on Charlie Valencia, Leonard Garcia vs. Mark Hominick and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung facing George Roop.
“From top to bottom, this card is stacked with Fight-of-the-Year-caliber matchups,” WEC General Manager Reed Harris said. “In addition to having a title fight, a grudge match and a bantamweight war, this card features warriors like Garcia, Hominick and ‘The Korean Zombie.’ These guys have all been in some of the most memorable fights in WEC history. Now, they have a chance to put on epic fights in front of the great Colorado fans.”
Tickets for the event go on sale this Saturday to the general public.
