A lightweight bout between WEC contenders Bart Palaszewski and Kamal Shalorus is in the making for WEC 52 this November.
According to MMAjunkie.com, the two fighters’ verbal agreements are set, and the bout is expected to be made official in the near future.
Shalorus is coming off a disappointing and controversial draw at WEC 49 in the evening’s main event. Shalorus would have earned the victory had he not been penalized for several groin shots to his opponent, former lightweight champion Jamie Varner. However, Shalorus still boasts an undefeated record, standing at 6-0-2 as a professional.
While Shalorus’ rise to contender status came quite quickly, Palaszewski, regardless of several big victories, has climbed the rankings rather quietly. He is currently on a four-fight winning streak, including three stoppage victories and a split-decision win. In his most recent outing, he knocked out Zach Micklewright with a vicious combination on the main card of WEC 50.
The lightweight contest is the third fight expected to land on the main card. The event features a main event between Urijah Faber and Takeya Mizugaki in the bantamweight division, along with a co-feature between Brian Bowles and Wagnney Fabiano. Las Vegas, Nevada’s Pearl at the Palms will play host on November 11.
