Urijah Faber will make his long-awaited bantamweight debut against Takeya Mizugaki in the main event of November’s WEC 52 event.
WEC General Manager Reed Harris confirmed the plans during today’s WEC 52 media conference call.
The Faber/Mizugaki bout was originally scheduled for WEC 50, but a knee injury forced Faber to the sidelines. Mizugaki opted to wait for Faber to recover from the injury rather than accept a new opponent for the card.
WEC 52 takes place Nov. 11 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas. Tickets for the event go on sale later this week.
Faber is the WEC’s top superstar despite going 2-3 in his last five bouts. He made the decision to drop to bantamweight after losing a title match with Jose Aldo on the first-ever WEC pay per view event in April.
Mizugaki is 2-1 since losing his WEC debut to former champion Miguel Torres, scoring victories over Jeff Curran and Rani Yahya while losing to fellow top contender Scott Jorgensen.
