Gabriel Gonzaga Could Retire From MMA

Former UFC heavyweight contender
UFC 121 may have been the last time you’ll see Gabriel Gonzaga compete in mixed martial arts.

In a video released today, the 31-year-old Gonzaga said that his loss to Brendan Schaub at UFC 121 could serve as his retirement from the sport and that he’s only interested in returning if the money is right.

“MMA I don’t know because I’m not going to fight for cheap money, and the UFC was paying me well,” Gonzaga said. “Another organization is there and I don’t know if they are interested in me or not. My main goal is to not fight MMA again, but if you have a good prize, I can be back fighting.”

“I definitely will try to fight again in ADCC and BJJ and Mundials and important grappling tournaments,” he said.

Gonzaga lost three of his last four bouts in the UFC to Shane Carwin, Junior dos Santos and Schaub.
