A lightweight bout between Spencer Fisher and Ross Pearson has been made official for UFC 127 this February.
The promotion announced the bout earlier today.
Pearson introduced himself to UFC fans during his time on “The Ultimate Fighter Season 9”, which he ultimately won. Following his successful time on the reality series, the Brit earned consecutive victories, one of Aaron Riley and the other over Dennis Siver, but could not extend the streak in his most recent fight. At “UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares”, he was disappointed by Cole Miller, who, after nearly knocking him out, forced the tap with a rear naked choke.
Meanwhile, Fisher has battled back from a pair of losses, earning a unanimous decision victory over Kurt Warburton at UFC 120 this past October. Prior to that victory, he had lost to both the aforementioned Siver and Joe Stevenson. His loss to Stevenson ended a three-fight winning streak, which was his longest with the promotion.
UFC 127 is set to serve as the UFC’s second trip to Sydney, Australia’s Acer Arena and February 27 has been made the official date of the event. The featured bout on the card will be a welterweight showdown between contenders B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch, while Michael Bisping vs. Jorge Rivera will likely serve as the co-main event of the evening.
