Jim Miller, Kamal Shalorus Face Off At UFC 128

Jim MillerFor one fighter, it's a chance to show off in front of his home town crowd while improving his position in the division. For the other, it's a marked step up in competition and the opportunity to make a statement in his UFC debut.

UFC lightweight contender Jim Miller will face former WEC contender Kamal Shalorus at UFC 128 in Newark, New Jersey. The event takes place March 19 and is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between Mauricio Rua and Rashad Evans.

The bout was confirmed on Wednesday evening by Heavy.com. It was originally reported by MMAWeekly.com.

Miller (19-2) has won six fights in a row, including a first-round submission of Charles Oliveira at UFC 124 earlier this month. After the win, Miller asked for a top contender for his next opponent. While he won’t get his wish with this fight, he will have a chance to welcome the hard-hitting Shalorus into the UFC in front of his friends and family.

Shalorus (7-0-2) ended his WEC career with a victory over Bart Palaszewski at WEC 53 earlier this month. Shalorus is a former Olympic wrestling alternate with an iron chin and a willingness to eat several punches for the chance to dish out one of his own.
