Strikeforce and K-1 champion boosts star power for New Year’s card
DREAM added some major star power to the Dynamite 2010 card this morning, adding Strikeforce heavyweight champion and K-1 World Grand Prix champ Alistair Overeem to the card.
DREAM announced Overeem’s participation during a press conference in Japan today.
Overeem’s opponent for the event was not named, but former UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee seems to be the odds-on favorite for the slot. DREAM originally wanted Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley as Overeem’s opponent, but Lashley’s financial demands were said to be too high.
Less than two weeks ago, Overeem won three fights in one night to become the first mixed martial artist to win the K-1 World Grand Prix.
