A lightweight tilt between Kurt Pellegrino and Gleison Tibau is in the works for UFC 129.
Pellegrino announced the bout via his official Twitter account earlier today.
Pellegrino is coming off a disappointing loss to George Sotiropoulos at UFC 116. The loss snapped a six-fight winning streak, which included victories over Josh Neer and Rob Emerson. Prior to his loss to the Australian, Pellegrino was undefeated since 2008.
His upcoming opponent, Tibau, was on a winning streak of his own before dropping a unanimous decision to Jim Miller at “UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares”. His recent victories include a technical knockout over Caol Uno and a unanimous decision over Josh Neer. He is 7-5 in his last 12 UFC contests.
UFC 129 is set for the Prudential Center on March 19 and features a main event between light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and former champion Rashad Evans. Another light heavyweight bout between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is also expected for the event.
