Brian Stann‘s wish to fight Wanderlei Silva will apparently be granted by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
That news comes from MMAFighting.com, who spoke to UFC President Dana White this week about the possible contest.
Stann called for a bout with Silva earlier this month after earning a knockout victory against Chris Leben at “UFC 125: Resolution” in the co-main event. The victory was Stann’s second at the 185 lb. mark after he left a stacked light heavyweight division following his loss to Phil Davis at UFC 109 back in February of 2009.
Meanwhile, Silva has been out of action for nearly a year due to knee surgery. The PRIDE superstar last fought at UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia, defeating Michael Bisping by unanimous decision in the co-main event of the evening. The victory was his first since 2008 and came in his debut as a middleweight following years of success in the 205 lb. division.
While White did not say when the fight would happen, early rumors point to a showdown sometime in the Spring of this year.
