Former WEC star makes UFC debut

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has agreed to step in for an injured Sam Stout and will face Paul Kelly on short notice at next month’s UFC 126 event in Las Vegas.

The nature of Stout’s injury was not revealed. The news was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.

The UFC 126 bout will be Cerrone’s debut as a UFC fighter after the recent merger of the UFC and WEC lightweight divisions. The ultra-popular Cerrone closed out his WEC career on a two-fight winning streak, including a submission win over Chris Horodecki at WEC 53 last month.

The lightweight bout will be part of the preliminary card. UFC 126 is headlined by a middleweight championship fight between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
