Koch, Swanson headed to UFC
A featherweight bout between WEC veterans Erik Koch and Cub Swanson is in the works for UFC on Versus 3 this March.
MMAjunkie.com reported the match up on Monday.
Swanson, who fought in the WEC a total of eight times, looks to begin his career with the Ultimate Fighting Championship with a second consecutive victory. He last fought at “WEC 52: Faber vs. Mizugaki,” earning a split decision victory against Mackens Semerzier. Swanson finished his career with the WEC with an even record of 2-2.
Koch, meanwhile, had only half as many fights in the WEC as Swanson, though he showed great promise throughout his one-year stint with the promotion. In his last outing, the 22-year-old took out Francisco Rivera less than two minutes into their contest with a technical knockout victory. The lone loss in his 12-fight career came against Chad Mendes at WEC 47 last March.
UFC on Versus 3 was just recently made official by the promotion for Louisville, Kentucky’s KFC Yum! Center on March 3 and features a welterweight tilt between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann. While Koch and Swanson’s 145 lb. bout will not be televised live, the entire main card will be broadcast live on Versus.
