Stevenson meets Castillo this March
A lightweight bout between WEC-veteran Danny Castillo and former UFC top contender Joe Stevenson is in the works for “UFC on Versus 3” this March.
MMAjunkie.com reported news of the potential fight earlier on Friday.
Castillo, who went 5-3 under the WEC banner, finished his career with the promotion with two impressive performances, defeating Dustin Poirier via unanimous decision and Will Kerr via technical knockout. Castillo enters the UFC after signing a four-fight deal with the promotion following his time in the WEC.
But the 13-fight veteran has hardly been given an easy introduction to the promotion, as Stevenson, though struggling lately, brings much more experience to the cage, including the 14 fights he has had with the UFC. Now, the former “Ultimate Fighter” winner looks to rebound from a pair of consecutive losses, including his most recent loss, a knockout defeat at the hands of Mac Danzig.
“UFC on Versus 3” is set for March 3 and will feature a main event between welterweights Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann. Louisville, Kentucky’s KFC Yum! Center will play host to the event, which will be broadcast live on Versus.
