Another fighter drops from the UFC 128 card.
Manny Gamburyan has been forced out of his scheduled UFC 128 match up with Raphael Assuncao due to a back injury.
MMAFigting.com first reported the news on Friday.
Gamburyan first appeared in the UFC as a lightweight on “The Ultimate Fighter 5.” After losing back-to-back fights to Rob Emerson and Thiago Tavares, Gamburyan dropped to the featherweight division where he reeled off three wins in a row. He is coming off a loss to UFC featherweight titleholder Jose Aldo.
Gamburyan becomes the second fighter forced off the UFC 128 card during the past week. Karlos Vemola withdrew from his match up with Luiz Cane due to injury. Eliot Marshall now faces Cane.
A replacement for Gamburyan is expected, but has yet to be named.
UFC 128 takes place on March 19 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and is headlined by the light heavyweight title bout between champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Jon Jones.
