Ortiz out of must-win fight, replaced by Mr. Wonderful
UFC President Dana White announced today that an injury to Tito Ortiz has forced him to withdraw from his bout with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Fight Night 24 in Seattle. Phil Davis has been tapped to replace Ortiz.
White told HeavyMMA.com on Saturday afternoon that an accidental headbutt during training forced Ortiz to get a large amount of stitches on his forehead.
Davis was originally scheduled to face Matt Hamill, but Hamill was removed from the fight in favor of a bout with Rampage Jackson in May. Jason Brilz replaced Hamill, and now Davis has been removed from the bout for his first headlining fight on Spike TV.
Davis is undefeated in mixed martial arts competition, but Nogueira will present the toughest test of his young career.
