Kimmons released by the UFC
Middleweight Rob Kimmons was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship earlier today.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed the release with sources close to the fighter.
The roster move follows Kimmons’ technical knockout loss to Dong Yi Yang at “UFC on Versus 3,” which was his second defeat in a row. The other came at the hands of Kyle Noke at UFC 122 last November.
Prior to the pair of losses, Kimmons compiled a record of 3-2 fighting under the UFC banner. He holds wins over Rob Yundt, Joe Vepedo, and Steve Steinbeiss, but struggled when facing tougher competition. At “UFC Fight Night: Diaz vs. Neer,” he was submitted by Dan Miller, while Jorge Rivera put him away via technical knockout at UFC 104.
Kimmons has yet to comment on his release.
