Urijah Faber wins in his UFC debut.
Former WEC champions Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland fought to a decision at UFC 128.
Wineland proved difficult to take down for Faber in the first round. He successfully stuffed several takedown attempts and got one of his own.
Faber landed the more effective punches in the opening round and took over the fight in the second.
After securing a takedown, Faber battered Wineland with elbows and punches. In the final round, Faber’s hand speed began to show, and a late takedown sealed up the unanimous decision victory.
After the fight, Faber called out bantamweight titleholder Dominick Cruz.
“I want to get this UFC belt. Dominick, if you’re out there, hide your kids, hide your wife, hide that UFC belt baby because I’m coming to get it,” said Faber.
