Seattle impresses the UFC
The Ultimate Fighting Championship hosts their first event in Seattle on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 24, and the promotion’s figurehead already says they’ll consider coming back.
In a live chat on Seattletimes.com Wednesday, UFC president Dana White was asked about the mixed martial arts scene in Seattle.
“Well, I think it’s pretty damn good considering ticket sales for Fight Night,” said White.
Ticket sales went so well that more tickets were made available to meet the demand.
“We were scaling this thing for about 8,000 and we’re close to 14,000 now. This thing ended up being a mini-Toronto,” said White.
UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields takes place on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and the UFC had to release more tickets after the original allotment of 42,000 sold out the first day. With 55,000 tickets now sold, the Toronto event broke all UFC attendance and gate records.
As far as Seattle, The UFC is considering returning.
“Will we think about coming back to Seattle? Hell yes,” said White.
