Barao, Escovedo meet at UFC 130
A bantamweight tilt between Renan Barao and Cole Escovedo is likely for UFC 130 this May.
The fight was reported by MMAjunkie.com earlier today.
At 25-1 with one no contest, Barao has compiled one of the more impressive resumes in the bantamweight division, even though he has yet to face top competition. He is currently on a massive winning streak and, aside from the no contest, has never entered a fight he did not win since his debut, which came over six years ago. He last fought at WEC 53, earning a submission victory over Chris Caraiso.
Also a WEC veteran, Escovedo recovered from a pair of losses in 2010 with a submission victory in Showdown Fights this past January. He has not fought under the Zuffa banner since his loss to Antonio Banuelos at WEC 23 back in 2006.
UFC 130 is official for May 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada and features a lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard, who have met twice before. The entire main card of the event, which will air live on Pay-Per-View, is official for the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
