First bantamweight title fight in UFC history headlines explosive long weekend lineup in July
Dominick Cruz is going to get the chance to avenge the lone loss of his career, and he’ll get the opportunity in the main event of UFC 132.
The UFC officially announced the long-awaited rematch between Cruz and his long-time rival Urijah Faber, along with the rest of the main card for the Saturday, July 2 show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Though it has been more than four years since Cruz and Faber first met, the rivalry between the two is as fierce as ever. Faber remains the only man to defeat Cruz, but now it is “The Dominator” who enters the Octagon as the reigning and defending champion looking to vanquish his latest challenger.
While the main event features a pair of long-time rivals, the co-main event will pit a pair of recent adversaries together, as popular strikers Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva and Chris “The Crippler” Leben will meet in middleweight action.
Leben has been asking for a bout with the former Pride standout for some time, and while Silva had several opponents to choose from, the dangerous Brazilian Muay Thai specialist selected the original bad boy of The Ultimate Fighter.
Also on the main card, Dennis Siver and Matt Wiman square off in lightweight action, veteran Tito Ortiz returns to face TUF 8 winner Ryan “Darth” Bader, and Carlos Condit steps into the Octagon with undefeated judo practitioner Dong Hyun Kim.
Tickets for UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber 2 go on sale on Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. PT.
