Brown vs. Phan set for Philly
A featherweight tilt between Mike Brown and Nam Phan is set for Philadelphia this August.
The promotion announced the bout earlier today.
A former WEC 145 lb. champion, Brown was once at the very top of a division that had belonged to Urijah Faber for some time. But at WEC 44 against now-champion Jose Aldo, Brown was dismantled by the Brazilian and has since gone on to lose three of his last five contests. In his last two bouts, he was defeated by Diego Nunes and Rani Yahya in a span of less than one month.
Following a fairly successful run as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter 12,” Phan and all those watching his UFC debut against Leonard Garcia were stunned when the latter took home a very controversial decision victory. He was originally expected to fight Garcia in a rematch this March, but an injury forced Phan off of the card.
UFC 133 is set for Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 6 and is expected to feature a featherweight title fight between the aforementioned Aldo and top contender Chad Mendes. Also on the card, former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will face off against the fast-rising Phil Davis.
