Ferreira cut by UFC
Middleweight Alexandre Ferreira has been let go by the UFC.
The Brazilian submission fighter has been removed from his bout against Rousimar Palhares at UFC 134 after allegedly refusing to sign the fight contract. Sherdog.com reported the news earlier today.
Ferreira was originally supposed to fight his fellow Brazilian submission ace earlier this year, but he withdrew from the bout due to the tragic flooding in Brazil. Prior to the fight’s fallout, “Cacareco” debuted with the promotion against Vladimir Matyushenko, but failed to capitalize, losing via unanimous decision.
UFC 134 is set for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 27 and features a main event between Yushin Okami and 185 lb. champion Anderson Silva. Palhares will remain on the card, as he is now scheduled to meet Dan Miller on the preliminary card.
