A stacked event gets even better
A lightweight bout between former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Jeremy Stephens is the latest addition to October’s stacked UFC 136 event.
UFC officials announced the preliminary card bout on Saturday afternoon.
UFC 136 is headlined by two title fights: Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have their long-awaited rematch for the lightweight title in the main event, while Jose Aldo defends his featherweight title against Kenny Florian in the co-main event. Brian Stann faces the returning Chael Sonnen in a featured bout.
Pettis lost his UFC debut against Clay Guida at the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. It was the end of “Showtime’s” UFC title aspirations, at least for the time being, and the end of his four-fight winning streak.
Stephens has won four of his last five fights, with the most recent coming against Danny Downes at the TUF 13 Finale.
