Former UFC welterweight entering political arena
Chris Lytle has found his next fight.
Three months after retiring from his career as a professional fighter, the 37-year-old former welterweight has officially announced his candidacy for State Senate in Indiana.
A resident of New Palestine, Lytle was considering a move into politics prior to his final fight in the UFC. After gaining victories over the likes of Dan Hardy, Brian Foster, and Matt Serra in recent years, the father of four and full-time firefighter is looking to add a win in District 28 to his resume as well.
Lytle announced his candidacy on The Underground yesterday, and outlined that he’s in for a tough fight, facing an incumbent with more then 20 years experience and significant financial backing.
Contributions to Lytle’s campaign fund can be made through his website, LytleForIndiana.com.
Stay tuned to Heavy MMA in the coming weeks for a full-length interview with Lytle about this next phase of his life.
