UFC 134 drug tests come back clean
The six fighters who were tested for illicit substances at UFC 134 all submitted clean samples.
The tests were coordinated by UFC officials, who hired drug testers for the event due to the lack of a sanctioning body to take care of the task in Brazil.
The most noteworthy fighter to undergo testing was middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who defeated Yushin Okami in the evening’s main event. Okami also passed his drug test. The other four fighters also avoided any problems.
UFC 134 marked the promotion’s long-anticipated return to Brazil, taking place in Rio de Janeiro on August 27. Along with Silva, fellow Brazilian’s Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua earned knockout victories in their main card bouts.
The lone Brazilian to fall on the evening’s main card was the hard-hitting Luiz Cane, who failed in his efforts against Stanislav Nedkov. He was defeated via first round technical knockout.
