Light heavyweight contest headed to Toronto after falling through in Vancouver
UFC officials announced earlier today that a bout between Canadian Krzysztof Soszynski and Croatian Igor Pokrajac has been added to the fight card for UFC 140 in Toronto.
Pokrajac was one of the three different opponents Soszynski was scheduled to meet at UFC 131 in Vancouver earlier in the year. The 32-year-old former training partner of Mirko Cro Cop agreed to replace veteran Anthony Perosh, but was forced to pull out of the bout due to an injury of his own five days before the fight. Soszynski ended up facing Mike Massenzio, earning a dominant unanimous decision victory over the last minute replacement.
Since that time, “The Polish Experiment” has been recovering from knee surgery and working to advance his burgeoning acting career. After splitting a pair of bouts with Stephan Bonnar, Soszynski has won back-to-back fights for the first time since stringing three consecutive victories together following his appearance on Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Pokrajac returns for the first time since an impressive performance against Todd Brown at UFC on Versus 3 back in March. He’s 2-3 through his first five appearances in the Octagon, though he’s 2-1 over his last three after starting out with consecutive losses to Vladimir Matyushenko and James Te Huna.
UFC 140 takes place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario on December 10.
