Condit agrees to step aside, Diaz gets title shot…again
UFC President Dana White announced at tonight’s UFC 137 post-fight press conference that top welterweight contender Carlos Condit has agreed to step aside and allow Nick Diaz to face Georges St-Pierre.
The fight was originally scheduled for tonight’s event, but Diaz was pulled from the fight after no-showing several press events.
White indicated that St-Pierre was uncharacteristically infuriated by Diaz’s post-fight comments after defeating Penn in the main event.
“I’ve known Georges since 2004 and I’ve never seen him the way he was tonight,” White stated. “Georges flipped out after what Nick said and told me he wanted this fight. GSP said Nick is the most disrespectful human being I’ve ever met and I’m going to put the worst beating on him.”
The new fight is scheduled for Super Bowl weekend.
