Patrick replaces injured MacDonald against Ebersole at UFC 141
UFC welterweight prospect Rory MacDonald is out of his UFC 140 bout against Brian Ebersole, and Canada’s Claude Patrick has agreed to step in on short notice.
UFC officials confirmed the news today.
Specifics of MacDonald’s injury were not revealed.
Ebersole, who exploded onto the UFC scene after a lengthy professional career outside of the top promotion with an upset victory over former contender Chris Lytle at UFC 127, last fought at UFC 133 against Dennis Hallman. Ebersole defeated the fellow veteran via technical knockout in the first round of their main card contest.
Meanwhile, Patrick looks to continue to build on a winning streak of his own. He is currently 3-0 in the UFC and is riding a 13-fight win-streak overall, with his most recent victory coming against Daniel Roberts at UFC 129. Prior to that, he defeated former “Ultimate Fighter” winner James Wilks at UFC 120.
Official for December 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, UFC 141 features a light heavyweight title fight between dominant champion Jon Jones and former 205 lb. champion Lyoto Machida, along with a co-main event between heavyweights Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
The main card will broadcast live on Pay-Per-View. No announcements have been made regarding a preliminary card stream, though one should be expected.
