Koscheck makes $146K, Werdum $100K in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS – Nick Diaz couldn’t win the UFC’s interim welterweight title on Saturday, but he did lead all fighters when paychecks were handed out.
Diaz earned a flat $200,000 for his fight against Carlos Condit in the main event of UFC 143, which took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Condit made $110,000 for the win – $55,000 to show, plus a $55,000 win bonus. The salaries were released Monday to HeavyMMA.com by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Condit wasn’t the second biggest money winner on the show, though. That honor went to main-card welterweight winner Josh Koscheck. The former title challenger made $146,000 for his split decision win over Mike Pierce, who earned $20,000.
And in his return to the UFC after a four-fight run in Strikeforce, heavyweight Fabricio Werdum earned $100,000 for his win over Roy Nelson, who made $20,000. Additionally, Werdum and Nelson each won $65,000 for taking the Fight of the Night bonus award. And Dustin Poirier and Stephen Thompson each significantly increased their take-home pay by winning Submission and Knockout bonuses, respectively.
