Former light heavyweight champ comes in at 211 for fight with Bader
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson had been telling media outlets all week that he was having trouble cutting weight. And on Friday, he made it official.
Jackson weighed 211 pounds for his light heavyweight fight against Ryan Bader at UFC 144 in Japan. Bader, who weighed 205, will receive 20 percent of Jackson’s fight purse as part of a revised bout agreement for Jackson missing weight.
UFC 144 main event fighters Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson each weighed 154 pounds for their lightweight title fight. Edgar, the champion, defends his title for the fourth time since taking it from BJ Penn at UFC 112 in April 2010. Since that win, he has defended it against Penn in a rematch, had a draw with Gray Maynard, then knocked Maynard out in their rematch in October. Henderson is a former WEC lightweight champ.
UFC 144 is the promotion’s first trip to Japan since December 2000, which was prior to Zuffa’s purchase of the company. The pay-per-view takes place at the Saitama Super Arena just north of Tokyo.
