Four fighters earn $50,000 bonus awards

Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez made their main event live up to the hype on Wednesday night, and they were rewarded with $50,000 bonus awards.

Ellenberger survived a late third-round rally from Sanchez to win a unanimous decicsion at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger, his sixth straight victory. For Sanchez, it was his third straight Fight of the Night bonus award and fifth in his last seven fights. But this was the first that is accompanied with a loss.

Heavyweight Stipe Miocic notched a 43-second knockout of Philip De Fries on the main card to win $50,000 for Knockout of the Night. De Fries appeared to have Miocic hurt early, but Miocic landed a nice counter that crumpled De Fries. He pounced and finished to improve to 2-0 in the UFC.

And Ivan Menjivar submitted TUF 14 product John Albert to open the Fuel TV-broadcast main card, forcing the tap from a rear naked choke at 3:45 of the first round to win Submission of the Night.

The event, at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., was the UFC’s first live card on the Fuel TV cable channel under the seven-year broadcast agreement with Fox.
