Bisping withdraws, Lombard in as UFC 149 replacement against Boetsch

An injury has forced middleweight Michael Bisping out of his UFC 149 bout against Tim Boetsch, but the UFC quickly found a replacement.

Due to an injury to Brian Stann, UFC newcomer Hector Lombard was without an opponent for the latest “UFC on FOX,” and the UFC has moved the knockout artist to UFC 149 in place of the injured Brit.

The bout will likely be apart of the main card, which is set for July 21 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Lombard, who signed with the UFC in April, just finished a lengthy stint in Bellator where he held the middleweight title. He is currently on a 20-fight winning streak and dives head first into the middleweight division as a contender.

In the opposite corner come July, Boetsch will look to build off an impressive comeback win against Yushin Okami at UFC 144. He was well behind on the judges scorecard after the first two frames, but earned an improbable technical knockout to continue his push up the 185 lb. ladder.
