Jon Jones to participate in celeb softball game
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is headed to the diamond.
As one of the sport’s biggest stars, Jones will take part in the 2012 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
The champ will be competing against several other athletes, as well as other celebrities. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel and University of Kansas NCAA Men’s Basketball coach Bill Self will play in the game, while Jon Hamm from “Mad Men,” James Denton from “Desperate Housewives,” and Eric Stonestreet from “Modern Family” will also lace up their cleats.
Also, former Major League Baseball stars will be competing, including Bo Jackson, George Brett, and Mike Sweeney, who all played for the Kansas City Royals at one time or another. Cubs legend Ernie Banks will also take part in the game, as will Ozzie Smith, Rollie Fingers, Mike Piazza, and a handful of others.
The 2012 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game will air on ESPN following the State Farm Home Run Derby on July 9.
