Riddle in against Clements at UFC 149
UFC 149 is getting mixed up again.
An injury to welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada is injured and out of his UFC 149 bout against Chris Clements. Matt Riddle has stepped in as a replacement for the July bout.
Bahadurzada was originally a replacement for an injured Yoshihiro Akiyama, who was scheduled to meet Thiago Alves. Then, an injury to Alves called for another replacement fighter for the welterweight contest. Clements was given the opportunity and accepted.
Riddle last fought at UFC 143, earning a split-decision against Henry Martinez. The February victory snapped a two-fight losing streak, including defeats at the hands of Sean Pierson and Lance Benoist.
A nine-fight veteran of the sport, Riddle has spent his entire career fighting under the UFC banner, landing him on a very short list of fighters who can make that claim.
Menawhile, Clements has fought in the UFC just once, earning a split-decision over Keith Wisniewski at UFC 145. He is currently on a five-fight winning streak.
UFC 149 is set for July 21 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and features a bantamweight interim title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao.
