UFC 149 draws 16K in attendance, breaks live gate record

Saturday evening’s UFC 149 drew 16,089 fans for a live gate of $1.4 million.

UFC President Dana White announced the news at the post-fight press conference late Saturday. He also revealed the it set a new live gate record for the venue, the Scotiabank Saddledome.

UFC 149 took place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, featuring an interim bantamweight title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao. The latter defeated the former WEC featherweight champion with an impressive unanimous decision nod from the judges.

Meanwhile, in the evening’s co-main event, former Bellator champion Hector Lombard debuted in the UFC with a split-decision loss to Tim Boetsch. The upset victory for Boetsch derailed the hype surrounding Lombard as a potential challenger for champion Anderson Silva.
