Attonito replaces Strauss at Sept. 29 event

“The Ultimate Fighter” veteran Rich Attonito is returning to action a bit sooner than planned.

The five-fight UFC veteran has agreed to replace Pascal Krauss against Gunnar Nelson at “UFC on FUEL TV 5” later this month.

The bout will be contested at a catchweight of 175 lbs.

Haraldur Dean Nelson, who is Nelson’s father and heads the Mjolnir team, revealed the news on Twitter.

Attonito last fought at UFC 140 late last year, losing to Jake Hecht via technical knockout. He now stands at 3-2 as a Zuffa fighter.

Meanwhile, Nelson has yet to compete in the UFC, but outside of the promotion he has been nearly perfect. With nine straight wins, only a draw in his professional debut separates him from an flawless record.

“UFC on FUEL TV 5” takes place on September 29 and features a heavyweight bout between Stipe Miocic and Stefan Struve.
