Johnson, not Attonito, meets Nelson later this month
Another change of plans has come for Gunnar Nelson and his UFC debut.
Earlier today, he was expected to meet Rich Attonito at “UFC on FUEL TV 5” after an injury forced Pascal Krauss out of the contest.
Instead, the UFC rookie will meet DaMarques Johnson on the September 29 card, as Attonito was concerned about making weight with such little time.
MMAjunkie.com reported the news Monday.
The event takes place in Nottingham, England and features a heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic.
Johnson last fought at the most recent “UFC on FOX” event, losing to Mike Swick via knockout on the main card. He has lost three of his last four fights, likely putting him in a must-win situation.
Meanwhile, Nelson will make his debut at the U.K. event. He is undefeated as a professional welterweight.
