Mendes returns at Dec. card
Featherweights Chad Mendes and Hacran Dias are expected to meet at “UFC on FX 6” at the end of 2012.
SporTV reported the news.
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Center in Australia will host the Dec. 15 event. The main card of the event, which may include the featherweight contest, will broadcast live on FX.
Mendes last competed at UFC 148, the promotion’s biggest show of the year thus far. He dazzled with a vicious, albeit not entirely unexpected, first round knockout against “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Cody McKenzie.
Prior to that fight, Mendes found himself on the losing end of a fight for the first time in his career. At UFC 142, he was knocked out by featherweight champion Jose Aldo in Brazil.
But the Team Alpha Male product has not been featured in the headlines due to his in-cage successes or struggles, but rather due to legal troubles outside of the Octagon.
Mendes was charged with battery this past August following a bar fight in Hanford, Calif. He allegedly punched a man during the altercation.
Meanwhile, Dias debuted at UFC 147 this summer against Yuri Alcantara. The Nova Uniao product earned a decision victory in that contest.
