Demetrious Johnson may be fresh off his win over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152 last month, but the first-ever UFC flyweight champion already has a few flyweight contenders on his radar.
And he should as the winner of John Dodson vs. Jussier da Silva will be the next top contender at the 125 lb. mark.
MMAjunkie.com reported the news after speaking with Dana White.
Da Silva and Dodson meet this Friday at “UFC on FX 5” in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their flyweight contest will broadcast live on FX.
Johnson was the first to discuss who would be the next fighter in line, discussing on UFC Tonight that the aforementioned flyweights would be the ones fighting for a chance at his belt.
Thankfully for da Silva and Dodson, that is now official.
