Evel Knievel is America’s most iconic daredevil, but throughout his storied career, he was more famous for the jumps he didn’t make than the jumps he did. The thing that set Evel Knievel apart was that he always dusted himself off and tried again. He was fearless.
To mark the 35th anniversary of Evel Knievel’s failed Wembley Stadium jump, the Harley-Davidson Museum is opening “True Evel: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel”, a special 10,000 square foot exhibition. It tells the story of Evel Knievel through artifacts from the Harley-Davidson Archives and the Knievel family collection. On display will be Evel Knievel jump bikes including his favorite, the Harley-Davidson XR750, and the rocket-inspired Skycycle X-2 used in his infamous 1974 attempt to jump Idaho’s Snake River Canyon.
The exhibit runs July 10 through September 6. For more information, visit the Harley-Davidson website.
