Spider-Man: Homecoming, the latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, opens on July 7th. The titular web-slinger is a high school sophomore who lives in Queens with his aunt, and he is portrayed this time by 21-year-old Tom Holland. Although Spider-Man is from Queens, where is Tom Holland from in real life, and where does he live now?
Tom Holland was born in Kingston upon Thames, London on June 1st, 1996. He attended Donhead Preparatory School in South West London and subsequently went to Wimbledon College in Edge Hill, Wimbledon.
Holland was born and raised in London, and this is where he still lives. He just recently moved out of his parents’ house and got his own apartment, although he ended up moving just down the street and is now only about five minutes away from his parents.
“I’ve been looking for an apartment nearly for two years,” Holland said during an appearance on Ellen. “And my mom rang me up while I was shooting reshoots…she was like, ‘Tom, I found the most amazing apartment. It’s two bedrooms. It’s lovely. You’ll love it. It’s brilliant.’ I was like, ‘Mom that sounds amazing, where is it?’ You could literally throw a stone from my house to where it is. It’s like down the street from where I live.”
He went on to say, “I was kind of planning to move out here to L.A., but now I’m only just moving five minutes away from my mom.”
Holland says that he has no plans to relocate to California anytime soon, though.
“I’m a London boy, born and bred, and I’ll be there for as long as I can,” Holland recently told the Evening Standard at the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Tom Holland is not the only member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast who is from London. There’s also Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange and who is from Hammersmith, London. In addition, Hayley Atwell, who portrays Peggy Carter, and Tom Hiddleston, who portrays Loki, are both from London as well.
