Jack Bauer’s (supposedly) last really, really bad day has the seemingly invincible/immortal anti-terrorist agent (and pro-torture practitioner) attempting to thwart an assassination attempt on a Middle Eastern leader whilst on a visit to New York City. Like most Manhattan-set action extravaganzas, the show takes some liberties with NYC geography (it did with L.A. as well, to be fair) and Day 8 really stretches the limits of credibility like no other Day before it… but so what? Kiefer Sutherland is awesome (FOX would do well to team him up with Bruce Willis‘ John McClane some day, for the hell of it — and to make a bazillion dollars), the pacing is top-notch and the action sequences are of cinematic propostions. Hey, you even get Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff in supporting roles — how can you go wrong?
