The anticipation for Drake’s More Life, the playlist project slated for release on March 4th, is high. The rapper even took to OVO Radio last Saturday to discuss the project and what fans can expect with interviewer DJ Semtex. Now, nearly a week later, Semtex has hopped on BBC Radio 1Xtra and compiled an array of Drake material to tide fans over until they can get their hands on new music.
The three-hour broadcast, aptly titled “The Rise and Rise of Drake,” goes all the way back to Drake’s first interview with DJ Semtex in 2009, when the rapper was promoting his free mixtape So Far Gone. Additional interviews include Drake discussing his 2010 album Thank Me Later, and the pressure of delivering on the high expectations of his 2011 opus Take Care. Semtex intercuts the sound bites with key songs from each era, and current commentary on how far Drake has come. “Crazy how it’s all changed,” he observes.
The crowning jewel in the compilation, however, is the inclusion of their recent More Life, interview, which comes uncensored in comparison to the edit that was broadcast on OVO Sound. There is also additional footage to enjoy, as Drake gets further into his craft and where he wants More Life to fit into his discography. Click here to tune in.
