Traore is out for Sunday's game against the Grizzlies due to a right quad contusion, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Traore has appeared in five out of the last six games for the Lakers but he will be sidelined Sunday due to a quad injury. Despite being in the lineup more than usual lately, his absence ultimately won't have much of an impact on the rotation.
Traore ended with four points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-5 FT), five rebounds, one block and one steal across 13 minutes during Wednesday's 134-93 loss to the Heat. Traore suited up for just the sixth time this season, three of which have come in the past week. The Lakers are struggling at the moment, resulting in their depth pieces shifting into the rotation. Across his six games played, Traore has scored a total of 10 points, providing very little in terms of tangible numbers.
Traore was assigned to the South Bay Lakers, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. Traore joins South Bay as the Lakers kick off a five-game road trip. It is likely Traore spends the majority of his time in the G League this season.
Traore (hand) will play Tuesday night against the Timberwolves. Traore missed time during the preseason due to swelling in his right hand, but the issue has cleared up in time for the 2024-25 regular-season opener. The 21-year-old is currently buried on the depth chart, so he'll likely see the majority of his chances in the G League, at least to start the year.
Traore is expected to be out "for around five days" with swelling in right hand, head coach JJ Redick told Khobi Price of The Orange County Register. Traore inked a two-way deal with the Lakers in June, and even though the Lakers will keep close tabs on this injury, it shouldn't affect anything from a fantasy perspective. Traore is expected to suit up for the South Bay Lakers of the G League in 2024-25.
