Windler will return to action Friday after missing Wednesday's Summer League contest. Windler will be able to showcase his skills as he competes for a regular-season roster spot.

Ineligible to play Sunday
Windler has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Pacers with an ineligible to play designation. Windler is operating under a two-way deal and thus was eligible to appear in only a handful of games after joining Atlanta in early March. He appeared in six of the Hawks' last 16 games, averaging 4.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12.2 minutes, but he did stand out during Wednesday's 115-114 loss to Charlotte, as he scored 12 points (4-7 3Pt) in 26 minutes.

Windler didn't appear in any of the Hawks' previous five games, but he saw plenty of run off the bench Wednesday since Atlanta was dealing with multiple absences. The team announced Thursday that Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Onyeka Okongwu (toe) will miss multiple weeks, but Windler's role will likely depend on how much De'Andre Hunter (rest) and Wesley Matthews (hamstring) play down the stretch.
Earns third opportunity
Windler has agreed to a two-way contract with Atlanta, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Windler has spent time with the Knicks and Lakers this season, and the 27-year-old will now join an Atlanta team that could benefit from his presence as a strong positional rebounder. Windler has compiled just 35 total minutes of NBA action this season and owns a 41.7 percent clip from the field for his career, but the 6-foot-7 forward ranks in the 90th percentile for total rebounding rate among all G League players across the last two seasons. He is a candidate for a small role off the bat, although Windler is eligible to be active in only 12 out of the 22 remaining games for Atlanta due to his previously accumulated service time this season.

The Lakers waived Windler on Saturday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports. The Lakers needed the roster spot in order to sign Harry Giles to a two-way contract. Windler has been a standout at the G League level, but he's struggled in the NBA so far.
