Gary Harris Latest News
Won't play vs. Brooklyn
Harris (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Nets. Harris will miss a third straight game with a left hamstring injury and doesn't have a clear timetable for his return. His next chance to suit up will come against the Knicks on Tuesday.
Won't play Friday
Harris (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Nets. Harris will miss a second straight game after sustaining a left hamstring injury during the first quarter of last Monday's game against the Hornets. His next chance to suit up will come Sunday during a rematch against Brooklyn.
Won't play Wednesday
Harris (hamstring) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Bulls. Harris sustained a left hamstring strain during the first quarter of Monday's game against the Hornets and will be sidelined for at least one additional game. In his absence, Anthony Black and Cole Anthony are candidates for increased playing time, but the Magic are expected to get Jalen Suggs (hamstring) back from a one-game absence.
Ruled out with hamstring injury
Harris will not return to Monday's game against the Hornets due to a left hamstring strain. Harris strained his left hamstring in the first quarter of Monday's game, and he was quickly ruled out after being evaluated by trainers. Anthony Black and Cole Anthony should see more playing time for the rest of Monday's game due to Harris' injury.
Starting Monday for Suggs
Harris is in the Magic's starting lineup for Monday's game against the Hornets. Harris will make his second start of the regular season Monday due to Jalen Suggs being ruled out with a hamstring injury. Harris' first start took place this past Thursday against the Lakers, and he finished that contest with 11 points, one rebound and one assist over 26 minutes.
Moving back to bench
Harris isn't in the starting five for Saturday's game versus the Pistons. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will reclaim his starting spot from Harris on Saturday after missing Orlando's previous contest due to personal reasons. Harris is averaging 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 16.1 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
Scores double figures in spot start
Harris provided 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 26 minutes during Thursday's 119-118 win over the Lakers. With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (personal) out, Harris made his first start of the season Thursday. Harris was able to capitalize on the increased playing time by scoring double-digit points for the first time since Opening Night. However, the 30-year-old guard is struggling with his efficiency this season, shooting just 37.5 percent from the field.
Promoted to starting role
Harris is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Lakers, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Harris will get the nod at shooting guard due to the absence of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (personal). This will be the first start of the season for the 11-year veteran, who's averaging 3.4 points across 16.5 minutes per game off the bench this season.
Minimal impact in loss
Harris closed Wednesday's 104-93 loss to the Clippers with two points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt) and two steals in 15 minutes. Harris is averaging 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 16.1 minutes across his last 10 appearances. His limited scoring production is largely due to his inefficient shooting. Over those last 10 outings, Harris is shooting just 30.0 percent from the field and 20.0 percent from three.
