Stewart (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Phoenix. Stewart hyperextended his left knee during the Pistons' 125-124 win over the Heat this past Monday. He'll miss a second straight game as a result of the injury, and his next opportunity to play will be Monday against the Lakers. Paul Reed will continue to handle backup duties behind Jalen Duren due to Stewart's absence.

Ruled out Saturday against Suns
Stewart (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Phoenix. Stewart hyperextended his left knee during the Pistons' 125-124 win over the Heat this past Monday. He'll miss a second straight game as a result of the injury, and his next opportunity to play will be Monday against the Lakers. Paul Reed will continue to handle backup duties behind Jalen Duren due to Stewart's absence.
Ruled out Thursday
Stewart (knee) won't play in Thursday's game against Utah. Stewart hyperextended his left knee during Monday's game against the Heat and has been diagnosed with a knee sprain. Paul Reed should handle backup center duties in Stewart's place. Stewart's next chance to play will come Saturday at Phoenix.
Won't return Monday
Stewart has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Heat due to a hyperextended left knee. He'll finish the game with four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and three rebounds across seven minutes. Stewart grabbed his left knee and limped back to the locker room following an awkward landing on a shot contest. With the big man sidelined, Ron Holland and Paul Reed are candidates for an increased role off the bench. Stewart will likely undergo further testing on his knee, though his next chance to play will come Thursday against Utah.
Heads to locker room Monday
Stewart appeared to injure his left knee during the second quarter of Monday's game against the Heat before heading to the locker room, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Stewart grabbed his left knee and limped back to the locker room with 9:10 remaining in the second quarter following an off-balance landing on a shot contest. If the big man remains sidelined, Ron Holland and Paul Reed are candidates for an increased role off the bench.
Returns to bench
Stewart won't start Monday's game against the Heat, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. With Jalen Duren (wrist) back in action, Stewart will shift to the bench. However, he could see extended time, as Tobias Harris (hand) is out, though Ausar Thompson replaced Harris in the starting lineup. As a reserve this season (23 games), Stewart has averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 blocks in 20.8 minutes per game.
Flops in chance with first unit
Stewart finished with two points (1-2 FG), five rebounds and one block across 27 minutes during Thursday's 123-99 loss to the Celtics. Stewart squandered a chance with the first unit while filling in at center for injured starter Jalen Duren (wrist), failing to make a noticeable impact in the box score during 27 minutes of action. Over 16 games with Duren out of action since 2023-24, Stewart is now averaging 10.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.2 three-pointers in 29.5 minutes per contest. Stewart has plenty of upside when it comes to racking up swats and boards when given additional playing time, so despite Thursday's dud in Detroit's starting lineup, the 23-year-old big man would remain worthy of streaming consideration if Duren is unable to return for Monday's tilt with the Heat.
Starting sans Duren Thursday
Stewart will enter the starting lineup in Thursday's game against the Celtics, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports. With Jalen Duren (wrist) sidelined, Stewart will pick up his third start of the season. In his previous two starts, the big man averaged 13.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 70.6 percent from the field across 33.0 minutes per contest.
Unproductive again in loss
Stewart logged two points (1-2 FG), two rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 130-120 loss to the Celtics. Stewart continues to produce very little, having now scored single digits in seven straight games. Although Jalen Duren has also struggled, Stewart has been unable to make the most of what could have been an unexpected opportunity. While his role should remain relatively consistent, Stewart's lack of per-minute upside will likely limit what he can deliver on a nightly basis.
Productive in loss Thursday
Stewart closed Thursday's 123-121 overtime loss to the Hornets with 13 points (5-5 FG, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 29 minutes. The big man tied his second-highest scoring mark of the year while surpassing Jalen Duren in playing time for the second time in the club's last three games. Stewart scored in double figures for the first time since Nov. 12, and he stuffed the stat sheet while shooting a perfect 100 percent from the field. In his last five outings, the 23-year-old has averaged 8.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 blocks while shooting 68.0 percent from the field across 22.2 minutes per game off the bench.
