Sims is in the Knicks' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pistons, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports. Sims will make his second start of the 2024-25 regular season Saturday due to Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) being sidelined. Sims has yet to score more than 10 points in a game this season, but he should give the Knicks plenty of energy on both ends of the floor.

Sims supplied four points (2-2 FG), 13 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Sunday's 118-85 win over the Pelicans. This was the fifth game of Sims' career with at least 13 rebounds, and he finished one board shy of his career high. He took advantage of some garbage time in this blowout win, eclipsing 20 minutes for just the second time this campaign.

Sims will start Friday's game against the Nets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. With Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) a surprise scratch, Sims will make his first start of the season. Sims played 24 minutes during the season-opening loss to Boston, posting four points, nine rebounds and two blocks, but he's seen 16 or fewer minutes in every game since. He made 11 starts last season, averaging 4.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 22.7 minutes per game during those contests.
Minimal impact so far
Sims is averaging 1.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game across six appearances off the bench this season. Sims was expected to contend for a spot in a depleted frontcourt without Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring), but such hasn't been the case. The Knicks have played Karl-Anthony Towns at center and have elected to go with forwards at center in small-ball lineups rather than handing Sims heavy minutes. Sims exited Wednesday's 117-94 preseason win over the Wizards after sustaining a sprained ankle, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports. Sims' night was over right after it started, as he suffered the injury in his second minute of play. The center didn't record any counting stats. The severity of the sprain is unclear, but his next chance to play will come Sunday against the Timberwolves.
