Bombs Cut Off Power to Iran Nuclear Enrichment Site

Electricity to Iran’s underground enrichment site — which turns uranium into fuel to make nuclear energy, or weapons of mass destruction, depending whom you ask — was cut off explosives last month, according to Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani.

The nation’s chief of nuke energy spoke today at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Reuters reports.

This claim comes after recent assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists and escalating rhetoric from Israel this weekend demanding that the U.S. draw a line in the sand to stop a nuclear Iran.

Abbasi-Davani said the bomb that cut off the nuke juice went off on August 17, one day before the IAEA asked to visit the plant. He’s suspicious:

“Does this visit have any connection to that detonation? Who other than the IAEA inspectors can have access to the complex in such a short time? … It should be recalled that power cut-off is one of the ways to break down centrifuge machines.”

Really? Hadn’t thought of that.
